Extended Day

At St. Michael’s, our Extended Care program lives up to its name: we provide an extension of the same care our students get in their classrooms for those before and after school hours. Rooted in the values of community, care, and curiosity, our program supports families by offering consistent, high-quality care before and after school.

Program Overview

Extended Care offers students the opportunity to learn, play, and connect. It is staffed by our regular teachers and administrators in addition to a few fantastic local college students. Our staff sees it as their goal to make sure every child feels seen and supported. They consider it a joy to watch the kids grow and hit developmental milestones!

  • Available for Infants through 6th Grade
  • Before and After Care options available
  • Daily routines include indoor and outdoor play, enrichment activities, and time for homework, required reading or quiet reflection. A light afternoon snack is provided during after care.

Our Extended Care program thrives because of the strong partnerships between families and staff. We value open communication and are always happy to answer questions, hear ideas, or help plan for your family’s care needs.

Enrollment & Drop-In Care

Families must register in advance for Extended Care each semester.
Limited drop-in care is available for PreK–6th Grade students with at least 24 hours’ notice and confirmation from the Director.
Drop-ins are not available for Infants or Toddlers.

Program Hours

  • Before Care: 7:15 AM to 8:00 AM
  • After Care: 3:15 PM to 6:00 PM
    • Families may choose from two pick-up times to best meet their needs.
      • Half-Day (picked up by 4:30 PM)
      • Full-Day (picked up by 6:00 PM)

To ensure smooth transitions and respect staff schedules, late pick-ups will incur a fee.

Extended Care will be closed on select dates throughout the school year (including some days in December, January, April, and May). A full list of closure dates is shared with families in advance each semester.

Adventure Club

Adventure Club provides care to students typically during our winter and spring breaks, usually for one week. Children enrolled in Adventure Club participate in a wide variety of activities including arts and crafts, games, dramatic play, stories, movies, time outdoors and field trips. Parents will receive notice of upcoming Adventure Clubs via our family newsletter. Space is limited and advance registration is required. The Adventure Club fee is not included in tuition.

Program Cost

Based on the amount of days and hours registered, the fees vary slightly to account for student age and staffing requirements. We are on a monthly payment schedule, but parents can expect to pay no more than:

  • $14 an hour for Infant/toddler
  • $12 an hour for PreK-6

After School Clubs

Our After-School Clubs program invites adults from our community to share their unique skills and passions with students—modeling the joy of lifelong learning and exploration. Each club runs for eight weeks, meeting once a week after school for an hour and a half. Students have the opportunity to try something new, develop their interests, and connect with mentors who are enthusiastic about their craft.

This fall, our clubs include Gymnastics, Taekwondo, and Dungeons & Dragons—offering a mix of physical activity, discipline, creativity, and imagination.
