Creativity expresses itself through cognitive, affective, and imaginative processes. These come together and support the skills for predicting and arriving at unexpected solutions.

Portraying the Self

Self portraits can be challenging. Some artists say your own face is the hardest to portray. In the JK/Kindergarten classes, we learned about depicting our faces by identifying shapes and patterns. First, we set out mirrors and explored how our expressions change. We took note of the shapes in our faces: ovals, triangles, curves and lines. Then we began drawing ourselves using architect’s stencils, or stencils with various shapes and sizes. We used both stencils and freehand in conjunction to create a finished product. In the end we decided to work big so we could explore use of space and color. Our finished products will be on display outside the downstairs studio this week! Stop by and take a peek any time.
