The 7th and 8th graders enjoyed lunch at the Panera (St. Louis Bread Co) Cares Community Cafe in Clayton on Friday. At this “pay as you please” restaurant, customers who have the means are encouraged to pay full price or more for their meal. Customers who do not have the means can pay less or nothing at all for their meal. This “shared responsibility” cafe is one of only three in the country. Several students said it was even better than a regular Bread Co!
During writing workshop, the students are writing a collaborative story about angels. Yesterday, the students dictated the beginning part of the story. The students will write the sentences for the story and illustrate the pictures. Here is the beginning of the story:
Once upon a time, there was an Angel King and Queen. The King and Queen angels lived on a cloud castle. The clouds were made out of marshmallows. The King and Queen had a daughter named Rosie. Rosie was 6 years old. Rosie liked to go to Heaven Gymnastics. On holidays, Rosie went skydiving. Rosie wore a white, purple, and blue dress. Her hair was sparkly gold. Rosie had two angel wings that were white.
