November is here and Thanksgiving is just a few weeks away! During Writing Workshop, the students listened to a story called The Best Thanksgiving. The sentence was I am Thankful for _______.
After they finished writing their words, the students then glued their feather to the turkey. Our Thankful Turkey is in the kindergarten classroom.
After looking at the stained glass in the chapel, the first, second, and third graders discussed the questions:
After the discussion the students made “stained glass” window designs inspired by their ideas about peace.- Schwall

First Graders love to shop…. at the Book Boutique that is. The First Grade Classroom has it’s very own special book store. Our Book Boutique has different leveled books, library cards and our very own check-out system. Today the children were invited to go shopping for “just right books”. These are books that correlate with their reading levels and give them a high reading success rate. The kiddos were called during group time and picked out one special book to be put into their reading log/book plastic envelope. These books can be practiced at home, in the car, in the doctor waiting room, etc. The check-out system was taught today of how to pick a book from the correct level, take the cards out of the chosen book and put into their reading pockets. We know at a glance where all the book are. We will learn how to check book back in on Friday.
