The 4th grade enjoyed their day before Halloween. In the morning, the kids celebrated with a showcase of costumes, a performance to the song “Thriller,” and a carnival of fun games, which they attended with their reading buddies. In the afternoon, the kids had some terrific treats and enjoyed a concert put on by the school staff.

The 3rd & 4th grades attended two jazz shows this week. The first, “Get Hip,” introduced the students to jazz’s cultural origins, concepts such as improvisation and creative self-expression, and the collective goals and responsibilities of each member in a jazz ensemble. The second show, “Hangin’ With the Giants,” introduced the students to the music and backgrounds of such famous jazz musicians as Miles Davis, Louis Armstrong, and Thelonious Monk.
