Thank YOU
Dear Parents,
To frame my thank you to you all I begin by citing the concluding lines of Mary Oliver’s poem, In Blackwater Woods.
…To live in this world
you must be able
to do three things:
to love what is mortal;
to hold it
against your bones knowing
your own life depends on it;
and, when the time comes to let it go,
to let it go.
Lord knows I’ve loved this mortal community. I’ve held it against my bones as if my life depended on it (despite various protestations that to the contrary…and what might be misconstrued from my natural “laid back” veneer).
