Dear Kindergarten Families,
We only have 9 more days of school?! It is soooo hard to believe that summer is just around the corner! In 9 days, our smart, talented, and adorable group of Kindergarteners will be in first grade!!
We will be busy bees this week as we finish Chapter 12 in Math Connects and also work in writing and reading.
Please mark your calendars for upcoming events:
*Monday, May 27th: No school, Memorial Day
*Tuesday, May 28th: School resumes
*Wednesday, May 29th: JK and Kindergarten Class Event, 8am in the Taylor Room
*Thursday, May 30th: JK and Kindergarten Party at 2:30pm
*Friday, May 31st: Last day of school, regular dismissal at 3:30pm. End of the year school picnic at Deer Creek Park off Laclede Station Road in Maplewood.

Spanish Class Objectives - May 13 to May 24.
Learn greetings and commands.
Review vocabulary in all kind of contexts: colors, clothing, food, classroom items, etc.
Learn expressions using the verb “gustar” (to like) and “ir” (to go).
Review the names of places in the city and the names of transportation.
Review expressions for: places in the city, things to do in the city, and ways to get from place to place.
Discuss food end nutrition.
Discuss fruits nutrition.
Learn expressions to talk about fruits nutrition.
Sing songs and play games to practice vocabulary and pronunciation.
Kindergarten News and Notes for the week of May 13-17, 2013
Dear Kindergarten Families,
The JK and Kindergarten students have completed the food drawings for the Alphabet book. This week, the students will work on writing food words for each letter.
Please mark your calendars for the end of the year JK and Kindergarten Breakfast. The breakfast is Wednesday, May 29th at 8am in the Taylor Room. We are so excited for this event!!

Students will continue to work on Chapter 12 in Math Connects books. Chapter 12 focuses on subtraction and using manipulatives to solve subtraction problems.
Objectives:
*Take away from 7 (7-1=6, 7-2=5)

Kindergarten News and Notes for the week of May 6-10, 2013
Dear Kindergarten Families,
On Monday, we will celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a mexican celebration in the gym. The students will get to dance, dress-up, and use musical instruments. A mexican performer will lead the celebration.
This week is also standardized testing week. Kindergarten students will take the OLSAT (Otis Lennon School Ability Test). Please make sure your child has a good breakfast and gets plenty of rest. We will test sometime mid-week.

Kindergarten News and Notes for the week of April 29-May 3, 2013
Dear Kindergarten Families,
This Monday, April 29th is the last swim day. Please make sure your child comes to school with their swimsuit on and your child will need a towel, goggles, and dry clothes to change into. Thank you to all the parent volunteers for helping out on swim days!
We will celebrate Will’s 6th birthday this week! Happy Birthday to Will!
May Scholastic book order forms are due this Friday, May 3rd. Please return your child’s order form to me or you can order online using our class code.
